Ok, so I just watched the Eastwood speech, and while it wasn't as "bad" as I was led to believe its clear he shouldn't have been out there.

The chair bit was...yeah, that was horrible, weird, and I know I'm being polite there, but I can't just savage a man whom I've respected so much, as an actor and director, by going any further than that, but I do acknowledge that his age plays a huge part in that.
And yes, obviously, his Afghanistan remark was off base, we all know who sent troops in there.
I did like his remark that politicians were "our employees" and that we have a right to expect better of them, and vote them out when they don't live up to expectations, though I understand that most here would disagree with who those remarks were being directed at. Personally I don't think either candidate lives up to what we deserve/need.
Overall though I just felt a sense of sadness. Eastwood is clearly feeling the effects of old age, it's plain to see. This man used to have such an...edge to him, and it's gone or is slipping away from him. And it's hard to see that, hard to witness that beig played out on a national stage like that. He just never should have been up there. That whole thing just made me sad.

One thing's for sure, it will affect the way folks think about Eastwood way more than the way they think about Romney or the GOP. -- nm

I can tell it killed in person, but it didn't play well for TV. He went out there and winged it...

I think the "our employees" remark was quite good. Makes for a great soundbite.
