Didn't she say she took her first space voyage and it ended up with her ship crashing?
I'm thinking maybe they just hadn't cast the new companion at the time this ep was filmed but she impressed them enough to be considered for it.
And Truman has a point about the voice. I hadn't thought about that. But then since she was a computer whiz she could alter her voice, right?
