This happened to a friend from my last job in RI. She and her husband had problems with the neighbor; the neighbor started berating her kids at her

son's birthday party after a ball (accidentally) rolled and hit his car that was parked outside his house.
Her husband (a firefighter, big guy) went over to the neighbor's house, started fighting with him. As he turned to leave/walk down the driveway, the neighbor (former cop) pulled out a gun and shot him in the back. He died in his driveway in front of his house, in front of his kids and father, during his son's birthday party.
So traumatic. (Neighbor/former cop was convicted and is now in prison.)
