It's ultimately sort of irrelevant. All the oil pumped out of the ground gets consumed by somebody. Whether it comes from here or there doesn't really

matter. That's why I've always found the "dependent on foreign oil" thing to be such a red herring. It's fungible, and a drop you buy from here isn't bought from somewhere else, and vice versa.

I understand why it's done politically, but in a global marketplace it's complete nonsense.
