Ooookay, so here is how anesthesia works for the most part. We use three drugs, a sedation drug, paralytic and pain meds. During induction we give

you the pain meds and the sedation (propofol, the stuff Jackson got) and then the paralytic once you are under (all IV). We then intubate and switch you to a gas for the sedation. Then during the operation we continue to give these drugs as needed. When it is time we back off on the meds and the patient awakes. We also reverse the paralytics.
