Amazon *will* convert every mp3 you have purchased from them if you nag them enough on the subject.
In terms of what you need to do, all of your upgraded files have already been deleted if your subscription ran out.
You have the ability to import 250 songs of your own of any file size to your Cloud Player Free service. This is a painless process. There is an app on the site that will let you perform the uploads.
Cleaning up your library is a tremendous pain in the ass. I've been pecking at this for months and keep hoping that Kim will volunteer since I don't know 70% of our music.
