I feel the Voice and X-Factor are apples and oranges. I like each for different reasons, but I dislike X-Factor for one reason that I like the Voice.

That is, I like the blunt honesty in X-Factor. Not the meanness. Some of it is just plain cruel and the silly acts are a waste of my time. But the X-Factor also can be brutal. That Don Philip, who once dueted with Britney, seems ready to commit suicide. I'm concerned for him. But, yeah, he was *not* good. I expect he's gone through some bad stuff in the last few years and he's probably still deep in it.
On the Voice, there's no cruelty, and little opportunity for mean reactions as they don't put out any silly novelty acts. It's mostly good singers. Some aren't good enough, sure. And often times, if someone doesn't make it, he just gets lumped into a montage.
