No, that's generally good advice. The way forward is pretty well-defined - two state solution based on the 1947 borders, with land swaps and some way

of sharing Jerusalem, and no right of return for Palestinians.

The problem is really that trust isn't able to get built up between the parties - partly because of actions of bad faith, and partly because some people confuse negotiation with weakness.

This means that you get a lot of empty rhetoric about the issue that's worth ignoring.
