mainly because he only had lukewarm support in the first place from the base. I do think it's very similar to the Kerry situation. Kerry was not an exciting candidate, just "better than Bush." I think that a lot of people (not all, of course) are just choosing Romney because he's "not Obama."

Romney won't lose those voters. He's just not doing much to gain the ones he really needs (at least not so far).
