zork: can't listen to the quirks and quarks bit in the field, but thorium has its pros and cons like anything.

generally more abundant (but nobody's really looking for it), more difficult to use for weapons (but not impossible), probably some others I don't know. I do know it can't be used in light water reactors, which most reactors are, so there'd need to be a lot of reconstruction. the 'less hazardous waste' argument doesn't sit well with me, since you're still talking multiple lifetimes worth of danger.
