The first movie all takes place in a skyscraper.

The second movie all takes place in an airport.

Then there were all the quasi-Die Hard movies.

So the Die Hard producers said, let's not make yet another "Die Hard in a place" movie. The formula is "John McClane gets paired with a different mis-matched partner every movie".

Sam Jackson, Reginald VelJohnson and Justin Long are the Die Hard equivalent of Bond girls.
