not only for turning 1 okay value into getting rid of 2 awful contracts...but that they could get players back.

The Yankees, to get rid of ARod would need a really solid player they could see fit to part with and then try to bundle him up as part of the deal "Hey, you want ...Cano, you take ARod..." It'll never happen, but that's at least in theory.

Otherwise, they'd need to write off about 80% of the contract remaining.
