Because they shut him down a month ago for overuse/return from injury concerns

There is a lot of evidence that a gradual build of innings is best and he hit that build amount. They shut him down.
And over his last two months he was a good but hardly great pitcher. Seven wins, seven losses. ERA around three and a half.
