It's kinda silly, kinda hilarious, kinda serious, and kinda suspenseful, and sometimes kinda really sad.

Start with the first year that Eccleston was Doctor Who and Billie Piper was his companion. They had some good chemistry. But...when David Tennant became the Doctor that good chemistry really became transcendent. After the 2nd season you might want to start watching Torchwood as a comopanion piece (it might be after the 3rd season, check with Remlik) the characters cross over a good bit.

Some things in the show are utterly ridiculous, like the Daleks. Yes, we know they look like trash cans with plungers sticking out, just go with it. Remlik talked me into watching it when it restarted with Eccleston. I was iffy for a few shows then all of the sudden I just loved it. I hope you do too. :)
