I would say if you're looking for a series to catch up on, this is a great choice.

There are so-so episodes from time to time, and you may think some of the older (2005/2006) episodes are sub-par, but two things to keep in mind: I *love* the series, and I started with the 2005 season having never seen any episode before that.
(Well, maybe one or so - I do remember seeing something with the curly-haired doctor in the 80's, but very very vaguely.)
Just power through them. I think you'll love it by the end.
