So, our anniversary night out Saturday night was a bit of a letdown

I'd bought tickets for a little boat ride on the Potomac. You buy tickets for the day, not a particular time, but the tickets say that the boat goes out at 6:30, so that's what I was planning. We got to the dock and the boat is coming in, and the guy behind the wheel said that he'd been told by the owner not to go out again b/c the day was so slow so far. I argued a little, but he was just doing what he was told, so there wasn't any point in going Jovian. I'll want to get my money back (the guy we talked so basically said good luck with that, but we'll see). We had a nice walk along the river, which was nice, but it would have been nice to be on the water during sunset.

Then we went up to dinner, which was a big disappointment. This place was supposed to be one of the restaurants in the city, but I was completely unimpressed. The waitress had little interest in dealing with us. The best part was the marrow bones appetizer, which was pretty terrific. But I ordered duck confit, which I'd never had. I guess I built expectations up to far, but it was slightly below average at best - kind of dry and not very flavorful.

Heather and I don't get out together much, so it was nice just spending time with her, but, especially considering how much time I'd spent getting things lined up, it was pretty disappointing.
