You'll have to go to a BofA branch and have them actually close the account. They'll give you a check for the balance in the account.
If you just suck the money out and leave a zero balance the account will still be open and BofA is notorious for levying fees on dead accounts and then sending you to collections over them.
Even after you close it, make sure to read every piece of mail from them. There have been reports of zombie accounts that reanimate and get hit with fees. If you have documentation you closed the account they *should* waive the fees if this happens.
