In response to "was this by chance a B-Day dinner? if so - what'd you have and what did you drink - please tell so I can hear my tummy rumble even more! -- nm" by ZomBro

okay -

Starter cocktails were a grey goose dirty martini and a Jameson - Neat. For the appetizer we had a cheese plate w/walnuts, toast points and a wonderful compote that mel enjoyed but i had to stay away from for allergy reasons. We also had a veal carpaccio with toasted capers and a frisee and haricot verts salade dressed beautifully in a fennel infused salad dressing. The bread were these little mini baguettes loaves - moist and chewy on the inside - perfectly crunchy on the outside w/fresh creamery butter. Entrees were filet au poivre for the gentleman with gratin potatoes and an extra side of spinach. I had the fork-tender short rib with au jus, baby veg and these amazing marrow croquettes served with horseradish creme. - (so good!) I also ordered a side of pomme puree which I really didn't need. - More for take home.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the wine. It was a lovely Burgundy that changed notes and told a different story throughout the entire dinner. If I saw the wine menu again I could give the name but it's not online.

I wasn't going to order dessert as I was freakin stuffed but mel ordered profiteroles to share as he knew I'd find room for some. (He also knows it's my favorite dessert so he passed up his personal fave - creme brulee - because the "birthday girl should have dessert". Those profiteroles didn't stand a damn chance.

It was lovely.
