Last year we got over a $2,000 refund, to illustrate my degree of shock.

The issue being that SheFox started work in mid-December 2007, so whatever gross underwithholding is on her W4 wasn't apparent at that time. I added 1 extra exemption on my end to try to reduce the overpayment all year. But I wasn't counting on her check only withholding around $600 for over $20k of income. I didn't even know it was possible to withhold that little.
