The battery on the smoke detector is dying, so it's been going "beep" "beep" "beep". Wife went 'round this morning and it's still beeping.

No previous tenant. It's a homeowner who has been unable to sell his house. Homeowner *claims* to have already moved out. Did he just leave some stuff and is splitting his time between residences?
