Amazon has a similar service with their Cloud player
I subscribe to iTunes because it lets me stream music to my 8GB iPods and iPads w/o having to do any syncing or other stuff that iTunes sucks at. I buy music on Amazon and let iTunes match it for me. That way I get it on my Fire and iOS devices with one purchase (plus $25/year to iTunes Match)
