Because if you did not inform them of your new address, it might be delayed in getting to you

Again, IF you did not tell them your new address, it would first be sent to the old address. Then, depending on whether the post office is still forwarding mail from your old address to your new address, it'll take several days to get to your new address or it will be returned to your former work as undeliverable.
