the notion that it was down to Obama's convictions. That 40% increase in turnout is down to those people being energised that one of their own was in the race. I assume in all this that the black community didn't grow at 40% in that time frame.
Don't get me wrong, Obama is a fine candidate, but he's still a candidate who holds much the same convictions as Kerry.
To go back to the original question, is 08 and 12 the new normal? I don't think it is because that huge increase in turnout was people acting like I would have done if I lived there and an Irish guy was running for president.
