I don't see how he can. I get the PR side of it, but the Marlins stunk. It's an easy argument for them to make.

Look, we tried. We raised payroll and brought in high priced talent. We lost 93 games. We have made a move here to get younger and better down the road.

Selig can't deny it.

But I'd hate to be the next franchise that tries to go to the public asking for money to build anything.
