Geez, Cryptonomicon had a steep learning curve when trying to keep up with it as an audiobook

One side effect of the long flight here, the nothing to do when not working, and then even when working, essentially being on my own is that I've managed go through nearly all of audio on my iPhone and iPod.

The weekly podcasts were done by the time I got on the plane at LAX

The latest Dale Brown book got me through the flight here and the first day or so.

The latest Jasper Fforde, Tuesday Next book lasted about as long as it took me to be most of the way done fixing the system.

A real tribute to the amount of time that I've spend listening is that after all of those, I finally, finally go through the last parts of A Dance with Dragons. Though I must admit that it had started to pick up again as it headed toward the end and of course, big changes of course wrapped up the book. But holy Epilogue. That seemingly got me through what seemed like half a shift

Since the net connection is barely pasable, I've been able to download the latest podcasts (I can see that I have at least nine to get) having completed the above left me what I put on my iPod as the just in case book: Cryptonomicon. That is not exactly a background type book as it turns out. Unlike the Game of Thrones books where the storyline shift is clearly called out even in the narration, this damn tome took me about 8 hours (out of nearly 44) to wrap my head around the various POV and time periods

Maybe I should have read a synopsis as opposed to just getting it as good bang for the credit download as well as having really enjoyed Snow Crash. Maybe then it wouldn't have been quite so jarring to go from WWII to the present and then back but a different POV and so on and so on
