Do yourself a favor and read my response to Redmond, then go read the AP story. The union had been onstrike for less than a week.

In fact, an agreement had been reached with the bulk of the striking employees. They were striking because the concessions (lowered pay, reduction in health insurance coverage, reduction in pensions) they had made in a previous bankruptcy had been misappropriated. Instead of taking the savings and plowing the money back into the company, the previous CEO gave himself and the rest of top management 80% raises and ceased promotion of Hostess products. This is a classic Bain Capital move.
I agree that the unions are at fault in many cases, but this time it doesn't look like they were the problem.
