Bad news: I missed the news about Hostess until late yesterday. (I did wonder (hah!) why the Hostess snack cake shelves were empty at Walmart.)

Good news: The Wonder thrift store next to the bakery that was closed earlier in the week has everything 50% off.
Bad news: They had no snack cakes. Plenty of bread, though. I won't miss Wonder bread but I will miss Beefsteak rye breads.
When we got to the store (and it's in an out-of-the-way part of Cincy, near the river) they were closed for lunch. There were 3 people waiting outside. Within 15 minutes there were about 15 waiting. After they opened it was a mad frenzy at first. But several people just wanted bread. The middle section, where they usually have the Twinkies and similar items (including Drakes) was completely empty. People were circling the store more than once, hoping to find something to subsitute for their snack cake jones. There was plenty of fruit cake, some bags of powdered donuts, plenty of Hostess cookies (which I never see in the regular grocery stores), and several other items they carry that aren't Hostess (some Keebler items, condiments, jams, chips). I got caught up in the frenzy. (I got the last 6 lemon pies!) I hope my stalkee likes fruit cake!
