It depends. If Thanksgiving is just the parents and would add the half-sister then I don't think it matters. The issue will be confronted some time.

But if there are other people at the dinner (did the parents remarry and now have other spouses or kids), are there grandchildren, etc. then this is not the time to do it. It should be private.
