That's why you see what her other clothes are and buy that size.

Then it doesn't matter if it fits. You say...dang, I looked at the size of your other sweaters and just ordered the same size.
I know Carrie would be impressed that I planned ahead enough to have looked in her closet. Although, I already know her sizes (after 21 years, I should). But it's that forethought that often impresses as much as the gift.
