but that said, generally "you left during my set" isn't a reason people break up.

Its the reason they say out loud because they don't want to say the bigger issues at the heart of it. Which is why it's not going to work, no matter what you try. You can't unsay stuff like "it was never that good anyway" or whatever he said. The damage being done right now can't get undone, no matter how good the old times felt.
i'm sorry, it's awful, but to the extent you can allow yourself to give this the time to get better and not think it is a temporary fixable thing, the better off you'll be, i swear to you.
