What we had to decide was whether he was given the Constitutionally mandated nutritious meal given his notice that he didn't eat meat.

It got thrown out but the 8th Circuit said there was a question of fact and the weight loss might prove that he was provided with inadequate nutrition and that the jail (and various employees) were recklessly indifferent to his lack of adequate nutrition.

That's more detail for you but the basic question was whether he had a right to a vegetarian meal.
