The arguement (which I don't buy) is the Smart would be lining himself up to take over when Kiffin is inevitably be fired.

Thus giving Smart the HC position and the talent that Kiffin and Orgeron recruited.

While I don't think most college coaches are looking to put themselves into waiting positions, it's not the *most* ridiculous argument I've heard.
