i know my mother went a little crazy when my dad retired. he retired young (55) and then just didn't know what to do with

himself all day. he wanted to do more, but i think he just didn't really know what to do (we also had a cleaning lady every couple weeks.) but he eventually found house projects and got into it (although, there are some i'm sure my mother wishes he HADN'T done.) :)
aside - i remember, in the beginning, he started watching Oprah (!) and then started TAPING it for my mother. She was like YOU HAVE GOT TO GET A HOBBY! and he was, actually, pretty involved in charity stuff already, but he ended up joining a few more boards and stuff.
