are and not all of it relates to how those businesses (or at least all elements of those businesses ) were run. The rules of the game were flawed. They took advantage of those rules to maximize profits when they were available. Shareholders wanted it. The things that turned it around were partly brought about by those decisions and partly by external market forces. They should have had more foresight, but they did what people thought they wanted them to do and what the rules of the game allowed.
