studies in the 70's about violence on tv (yeah they thought that was violent) showed the biggest effect was to make average people worry about bein...

A victim. People in small towns that didn't lock doors worried about crime in the streets even though they didnt have any reported crime (or even streets)

Note there actually was a higher crime rate in the cities attributed to higher lvls of drub use and/or ecomony being the shits, however there hasnt been an equal crime rise this recession though it wasnt as bad)
