I've been watching the battle of The Nutcrackers on Ovation and OMG the Prince from the San Francisco Ballet has the biggest fricking codpiece I've

ever seen. You can't miss it. When he stands sideways it literally sticks out 5-6 inches! Also, I've seen at least a dozen different versions, both live and on Ovation over the years and I have to say this one is the perviest. They don't swap out little girl Clara for grown up Clara, so we have a 20 something Prince (with a giant dick or fake dick) flirting and kissing her. Also, Herr Drosselmier sneaks in her house and just stares at her all rapey and shit. Other than that, I love the Edwardian costuming and sets, they're not as heavy as the usual Victorian. A lot of the staging has changed with more children being featured dancers. I'll give it a B-

Also watched the Marinsky (2012) version today. It was ok, but they changed most of the duets to trios. The costuming was pretty simple and didn't go the grand restored Marinsky Theater (built by Catherine the Great) justice. It's worth watching just to see the theater tour.

I think my favorite will always be the Bolshoi, it's so classic and is done the same way it was in the 1880s. If you want to watch a Nutcracker this year, check Sunday afternoon. I know that the British Royal Opera version is on (very good, solid A) and this pervy one I'm finishing up (San Fran) is repeating. They'll have several on Monday too, featuring the one that gets the most viewer votes.
