My ex did that for a while. You have to keep in touch for the kids, but she would go overboard

Lots of emoticons and exclamation points in her emails. I finally told her to take her smiley faces and shove them up her ass.
She got very mad, but it got her to chill.
Keep the communication civil and almost business like. You may be friendly later (my ex and I can almost talk as friends now), but for now, keep the emotions under check
