Did you jiggle the cables?

Are you sure both your router and your modem are compatible with Apple? The last time we had connectivity issues it turned out that the modem/router (all in one) that he were given from Qwest (now Century Link) was not only outmoded and not equipped to handle the 15mbps we were paying for, but the software was a bit corrupted and wouldn't establish a bridge to the main computer. We ended up going out and buying a brand new top of the line modem/router (about $89)and it's worked just great. It has 2 desktops, 2 laptops, 2 Xboxes and my Kindle Fire all connected to it.
