I think "You've been a dick to me for years so I'm going to sink you." is off the table. But neither should you just go and be someone's errand boy and try to make something happen that can't happen.
If A & B can't be together, then - if you choose to get involved at all - you may want to help B get over this crisis. That may be by giving guidance to your actual friend, A, and see about making the break and clean and easy as possible. Your involvement with B can be minimal and still be positive.
