I presume they did this as well as alerted chefs to the usage of LCK because they recognized how much that situation sucked for Ed. Once a player was eliminated and the show was down to four, he rightfully expected that he had made the final round and that the competition in the host city was over. That's the way the show had been done before. Instead, they sandbagged him with the return of Beverly and a better chef was eliminated because he lost for the first time at a later date than Beverly when she lost for the first time. It was a bad rule and they fixed it. I don't read anything into it beyond that. The popular vote, on the other hand, is something I have no idea how they will work in.
