(yes the name is pretentious but....)

Even though you are out of warranty (I assume) they will almost certainly at a minimum reduce replacement cost and, if there is a known problem with the drive, perhaps comp it.

I had a drive fail several years back when the comp was 1-2 years old and the comp'ed it and fully re-built me.

My current Macbook is around 2 years old and the power cord frayed. They comped it me a new one last week.
