I just realized the world of My Little Pony is a gynocracy with females outnumbering males 10-to-1.

The royals are female, the mayor is female. The males that do appear are chiefly in grunt labor or subservient roles (soldiers, farmers, Spike).

This makes for a poor stereotype for young girls. They need to know how the world really works.
