That depends on state or province law. In some states you absolutely can't sell above face price.

In the state of Washington and here in Idaho, you can walk up to a venue and hear 10 different prices being yelled out. The closer it gets to start time, whether a sports event or a concert or whatever, the cheaper the tickets get. There is no law against getting what the market will pay. In other states, like Kentucky, you can do jail time for asking over face value.
You shouldn't give these "definative" answers based on only your tiny world view. That confuses things and gives people incorrect information.
