I wouldn't rule out a plasma. But those brands are fine. Vizio, too. I learned something about Samsung, though.

Two of the 3 TVs at the gym were going bad. I took a picture and brought it back to my engineer. He asked "Is that a Samsung?" He knew right away. He says that Samsungs aren't made to last long (which I suppose is true, since the TV I had which died was a Samsung). The warranty is 1 year for a reason. The Koreans use bargain parts to produce bargain TVs. He recommends a Japanese brand like Sony. I hate using Sony. I think it's more brand than quality now. But Panasonic might be a good choice.
