I think he had a point though. If we didn't have confirmed information, Rice shouldn't have been offering a coherent summary of the events,

she should have been saying "that's still under investigation and I won't give any hypotheticals until we know more."

And it's not unreasonable to ask, if the details of the Newtown shooting can be cleared up in less than 2 days, why was the demonstration/riot narrative being offered up for far longer than that. "It doesn't matter why, it just matters that my people are dead" doesn't excuse disseminating wrong information in the early stages of the event.
