except we don't elect people based primarily on any of those categories, but rather by their alignment with a political party.

now, to the extent that the political concerns of those groups are not adequately addressed by either party, then the MMP system allows for the emergence of minor political parties to give those constituents a voice, that they would otherwise not have in our current FPTP system.
