I use two different sites, one for just watching shows and one for downloading. No torrents or uTorrent needed.

The first site I use is: http://www.1channel.ch/
There I watch any show I want. Movies as well but I mostly use it catch up on tv shows. They update very quickly after a show airs and give you multiple options of where to watch the show or movie.
The site I go to for downloads is: http://www.dailyflix.net/index.php?
There I download mostly movies and they're all Divx. No uTorrent needed. You get the files from different hosting sites. Many different options like size, quality, etc. You just download it to your computer like you would any other file.
I stopped using actual torrents.
