Two movies-I've-seen-before gripes (Casino Royale and Knight's Tale, both of which I watched last night)

Whenever I watch A Knight's Tale I'm reminded of how much I enjoy the movie and how dynamic Heath Ledger was, and I think dammit what a loss that he's not around to make more movies. It's bittersweet.
However, each time I watch Casino Royale I'm reminded of how really not good it is. 1) There's no chemistry between Bond and the girl, and yet he's fawning over her like Heath's middle-age knight writing flowery love letters. There's just no writing in the movie to support their romance. 2) The editing during the poker sequence is just terrible. They actually cut from a deal to Bond walking into his hotel room without explanation of why he's not at the table, and he just reappears after *two* violent incidents without losing any money and appearing perfectly poised. 3) *spoiler* The following movie reveals that Vesper was being used to transfer the money. So despite being presented as an ice queen at her job, she transfers the money to her own account pretty much when Bond wakes up... but then waits for him to recover (which had to have been weeks), and continues to vacation with him for a month? Why the hell stick around waiting to be found out?
