DVDs are generally in the $2-$3 range. Blu-Rays of movies are generally $3 - $4.50.

If Amy is getting them through work, I would suggest that she join a forum such as CheapassGamer or Blu-Ray.com. A lot of members are interested in buying them in those locations. I have several favorite sellers on CAG, as an example.
People prefer Blu-Ray because those codes translate to HD licenses while DVD is generally SD.
