I volunteered at a shelter for abused women, a while ago. But it doesn't lend itself to being very forgiving about anyone who beats another person.

Or about jokes about those people.
And especially jokes that say whoever had it coming.
No, I don't have much of a sense of humor on that subject.
Yes, I laughed at the joke but it made me feel queasy too.
So, yes I think it's over the line. Maybe just a little but still over the line.
